In the words of the BBC:
Harry Bicket and the English Concert perform a programme that surveys early 18th-century London’s operatic taste. The suites from Purcell’s tragicomic semi-opera Dioclesian and his more widely know masque The Fairy Queen sit alongside selections from two of Handel’s most jealousy infused operas – Ariodante and Hercules. English mezzo-soprano Alice Coote joins the English Concert with whom she has a long association.
Purcell: Suite from Dioclesian
Handel: Hercules (extracts)

Purcell: Suite from the Fairy Queen
Handel: Ariodante (extracts)

I’ll be sorry to miss this one (have to do some more traveling) – I’ve enjoyed Coote’s singing every time I’ve heard her.
Think they’ll put this on iPlayer? If not, I’ll have to make arrangements.
There’s no logical reason why this should not be on iPlayer but then Aunty Beeb’s logic can be elusive.
Contingency plans recommended.
Aunty Beeb is in good humor today:

Ah, though I see now you already posted the link. Sorry. Department of Redundancy Department.
I was so pleased I caught this one (live) I was blown away by Coote, sounding very Janet Baker at times. I swear I stopped breathing. And Harry’s band were brilliant too.
