MUSIC FOR SMILING ….. or even laughing!
Dmitri Shostokovich – Waltz number 2
~~
Some people may know this piece, possibly having heard it as background music somewhere, possibly a film. I love the orchestration and can never resist a smile, particularly when the trombone comes in with the main theme towards the end. Give yourself a treat and put this on while you are at your computer … it’s smiley music. And there’s smiley photos to go with it!

For years this tune was the background to an advert on TV for a famous French bank but strangely enough it was nice to watch the story which was about a family with new babes then teenagers then married and so on….then grandparents .. all waltzing of course ! well like the seven ages of man… and the bank of course was along with them… So yes, I smiled when I read the title of your post! It is funny here too!
That sounds like a really nice advert, Yvette – much more tolerable than the crass stuff that shouts at you from the TV these days!
Smiling now thanks eyes! Lovely images too, reminds me of many I have of the kids as babies smiling at me. Such a fantastic feeling to take in to a new week
Thank you.
This, added to your weekend wonders should last at least until Wednesday!
I’m glad you didn’t include any British politicians – that would have seemed too sinister.
When I hear this I always think of David suchet as Poirot although I don’t think they have ever used it.
I guess the music has that louche deco feel.
A day with a difference ahead!
In other news I’ve just been to have a 24hr bp monitor fitted – such larks
Don’t get too exited !! Think calm thoughts
My practice manager recently had a 24 hr ECG monitor we spent most of the day trying to surprise her ! Childish I know ..
Damp squib …. my monitor did not work so reschedule necessary. Cutbacks eh?
Drat ! At least you know what to do now. Just don’t look at any of the photos on your blog! 💓
I always try to follow doctor’s orders but that is a step too far 😈
